This collection, for the period 1779 to 1861, consists of a folder containing a liquor license grant, legal bonds to perform work for Persis Barrett Bigelow (1752-1848) and Charles Davis Boynton (1812-1899), a dower adjustment by committee, highway tax list for 1841 to be collected by Boynton, many legal proceedings, inventories, receipts, and accounts concerning the administration of the estate of Silas Bigelow (1772-1829) by Nathaniel Lakin (1774-1851), and many land and pew deeds, mainly involving Persis Barrett Bigelow, Silas Bigelow, Charles Davis Boynton, Darwin Russell Boynton (1818- ), and Ezra Boynton (1786-1835), as well as other townspeople. Several items of note include a four-page sketch and statistics compiled in 1814 by Elbridge Gerry Howe (1799-1883) on intemperance in Paxton, several verses by Silas Bigelow (such as "Time and Eternity"), correspondence of Persis Barrett Bigelow concerning family records, and several funeral hymns written specific occasions. The octavo folder is a collection of post office records for the period 1817 to 1841. The forms were completed and signed by Postmaster Tyler Goddard ( - ), listing all quarterly transactions of the post office during a twenty-five year period, such as types of letters posted, postage collected, and balance due to the general post office.
